March 27 - 29, 2018, Minneapolis, Minnesota

GMF'18: At the Geologic Mapping Forum in Minneapolis from March 27th to 29th, 2018, ~100 geological map authors, program managers and allied professionals from geological surveys and allied agencies will meet to discuss the status and future of geologic mapping in the USA. The meeting will be hosted by Minnesota Geological Survey on the University of Minnesota campus.

LOCATION: The meeting will be held near the Mississippi River, at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs on the West Bank campus, in the Humphrey School Conference Center at 301 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55455. There will be parking across the street for $6/day – you may enter parking on Riverside Ave just west of 19th. Minneapolis weather in late March will typically be a high of 50°F or 10°C, with rain or snow.

TRAVEL: The meeting site and conference hotel are a 5-minute walk from the West Bank train station on the Green Line. You can take the Blue Line train from the airport for a couple dollars, and change trains at US Bank stadium. Your travel to Minnesota’s Twin Cities will be eased by many options for flights to MSP airport.

HOTEL: The conference hotel will be the Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown at 1500 S Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55454. REGISTRATION: The fee for the meeting will be $260; or $285 after end of February. Included in the fee are light breakfast, breaks, and box lunch, for three days. Refunds will be offered for cancellations before March 1. You may register here.

PRESENTATIONS: Unless you have been invited to speak in a plenary, all participants are urged to present a 15-minute talk in a concurrent session or a poster. Plenary and concurrent session presenters are asked to submit a 2-page abstract by email before March 1. The abstract guidelines are available here.

PROGRAM: The meeting will commence with registration and a reception at the hotel with light food and drinks on Monday from 5 to 7 PM, followed by conference sessions from 830 AM Tuesday until 4:30 PM Thursday. The program will be available here.
