GMF'19: At the Geologic Mapping Forum in Minneapolis in April, ~100 geological map authors, program managers and allied professionals from geological surveys and associated agencies will meet to discuss the status and future of geological mapping in the USA. The meeting will be hosted by Minnesota Geological Survey on the University of Minnesota campus.

LOCATION: The meeting will be held near the Mississippi River, at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs on the West Bank campus, in the Humphrey School Conference Center at 301 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55455. There will be parking across the street in the 19th Ave Ramp for $12/day – you may enter on Riverside Ave just west of 19th, or if there is space in Lot 94, which you will see on the West Bank campus map, the daily rate there is $4. Minneapolis weather in early April will typically be a high of 50°F or 10°C, with rain or snow.

TRAVEL: The meeting site and conference hotel are a 5-minute walk from the West Bank train station on the Green Line. You can take the Blue Line train from the airport for a couple dollars, and change trains at US Bank stadium, or an option is to phone the hotel at 612-333-4646 and ask them to pick you up at US Bank Stadium with their free shuttle. Your travel to Minnesota’s Twin Cities will be eased by many options for flights to MSP airport.

HOTEL: The conference hotel will be the Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown at 1500 S Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55454. REGISTRATION: The fee for the meeting will be $260; or $285 after March 15th. Included in the fee are Tuesday reception refreshments, as well as light breakfast, breaks, and box lunch for three days. Refunds will be offered for cancellations before the end of March. You may register here.

PRESENTATIONS: All participants are urged to present a 15-minute talk (either 4:3 or 16:9 ppt) in a concurrent session or a max 4' x 8' poster. Plenary, concurrent session, and poster presenters are asked to submit a 1 to 2-page abstract to thorleif@umn.edu before March 15 or ASAP thereafter. The abstract guidelines are available here

PROGRAM: The meeting will commence with registration and a reception at the hotel with light food and drinks on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM, followed by conference sessions from 830 AM Wednesday until 2:30 PM Friday - focusing on methods, current projects, and coordinated AASG/USGS planning.
